Circular runout

The runout is a running tolerance according to standard (DIN EN ISO 1101). It describes the uniformity of a circular profile when it is rotated around its reference axis. This is usually determined with the aid of a dial gauge. For this purpose, the workpiece is placed in a prism at the bearing points. The dial gauge is now used to measure at several measuring points while the component is rotated. The difference between the largest and smallest display must not exceed the value specified in the drawing. However, the runout cannot be used to determine the crowning or the concavity, nor can it be used to determine a taper of the round profile.
